Facebook recently conducted an internal study to determine how businesses can best generate engagement for their brand’s Timeline. The results provide beneficial insight and guidelines for optimizing your Orange County web development and social media strategies.
After examining four weeks of Page posts from 23 brands, Facebook found that posts related to the company’s brand garnered the most engagement from followers. At first glance, this seems blatantly obvious; however, slight changes in posted content proved to make a significant difference in the success of a company’s Timeline.
Facebook divided the posts of the sampled businesses into three different subjects: posts about the company’s products and services, posts related to the brand and posts completely unrelated to the brand. The study uses a travel brand as an example for these different subjects.
According to Facebook, statements such as “I decided to go on my first cruise because ______” earned far more attention and engagement than statements such as “Our new resort just opened! Book your trip today” or “Hang in there, everybody. Monday will be over before we know it!”

The study also notes that posts that were related to the brand predicted how a follower engaged with a company’s Timeline. To achieve more shares, use visual content such as photos and videos.

To achieve more likes, directly ask followers to engage with statements such as “Like this if…” To achieve more comments, post questions on your company Timeline.
