Let’s Make a Difference Bigger than Us!

Life in the Agency | Trends

Sometime in the future when we look back on the year 2020, the first thing we’re going to remember is COVID-19 (#SmallBusinessBigImpact).

We’re going to recall when we first heard about the virus and how it forever changed the lives of our families, our friends, and the rest of the world.

We’re going to recall that in 2020, we tried to make sense of everything and adapt quickly to this new way of living.

Today, wearing masks in public is the new normal, alongside standing six feet apart and constantly washing our hands.

The biggest challenges facing our society today are food shortages, store closures, quarantines, higher death rates, and everything else that the coronavirus has caused.

In the future, when we think back to these times, we’re going to be faced with a question:

“Have we as a society done everything in our power to influence the future for good?”

Looking to the Future

It’s understandable that many people worried and uncertain of how things will be. As society patiently waits for a vaccine, many people are cooped up in their homes, teleworking and minding their own business.

There’s just one issue we face. That issue is that many individuals are choosing to only worry about their needs, instead of the needs of others.

While it’s imperative that we look out for ourselves and make sure we stay healthy, we also need to look out for those around us, those who may not have the same resources or abilities to remain safe.

Those who have lost their homes, their jobs, living in other countries, or in situations where access to necessary items may not be such an easy thing to come by.

Extending our line of sight beyond what’s immediately around us, to those around the world, in order to offer a helping hand, is something that needs to be happening at a larget scale.

While there are certainly many individuals, companies, organizations, etc. that are contributing and donating resources to those in need, more of this needs to be happening.

There are many people across the globe that are still suffering and can use all of the help they can get.

Brandastic took it upon themselves to be one of those companies to gave back and aimed to make a difference.

Bigger Than Us

While Brandastic’s mission is to provide amazing services to our clients, we strive to provide a different kind of service for those in need.

That service is giving back to the world during these difficult and uncertain times, in the form of food for the homeless and the needy.

Specifically, in India.

India is one of the 5 poorest countries in the world. Currently, there are close to 200 million people that are undernourished. India is also getting hit extremely hard by the coronavirus.

According to recent statistics, unemployment went up to 24 percent on May 17, 2020. This was possibly a result of a decrease in demand as well as the disruption of the workforce faced by companies. Furthermore, this caused a GVA (Gross Value Added) loss of more than nine percent for the Indian economy that month.”

This downturn has an undeniable trickle-down effect.

Between February and April 2020, the share of households that experienced a fall in income shot up to nearly 46 percent. The total unemployment rate did drop back down significantly shortly after. As of June 28, 2020, the jobless rate was at 8.59%, and urban unemployment was just over 10%

We can see that people are struggling financially due to losing their jobs and just from the conditions of the country alone.

Brandastic wanted to do something about that.

How Brandastic Gave Back

Brandastic partnered with a local charity in India that helped distribute fresh meals to 100 homeless families.

Many of these people live on $0.35 or less a day. While it’s difficult to even understand the stress, conditions, and circumstance of the individuals that live there, let alone with what’s happening with the coronavirus, we wanted to provide just an ounce of relief in any way that we could.

We wished that we could have provided assistance to everyone in need, but that takes an larger effort on a much grander scale.

Here are just a few images of the individuals that we provided assistance to.

Next to helping provide food to those in need, the one major thing that we hope will come out of this is that we brought forth an increased amount of awareness so others around the world can do the same if they haven’t already.

Whether it be donating food, money, masks, or any other necessary resource for living and staying safe during this pandemic, we can all do our part and give back.

We can make a proactive effort now to have a positive influence on our future.

When we revisit that question: “Have we as a society done everything in our power to influence the future for good?”

What Can I Do?

It’s unfortunate, but it’s very important to be mindful that there are ‘charities’ out there that may seem legitimate, but are in fact scammers taking advantage of the current situation and try to take your money.

Also, be aware of who is supporting the charity.

Be sure to read up on how to gauge a legitimate charity, and make sure your money and resources go to where they say it will go.
